How to start my Trendyol career?
What do you think of the term “work is learned working”?
Finishing in 2021, I gave myself some aim. As you understand, one of them is to start writing something on Medium and I decided on the topics.
After the topics are ready, I listed them in chronological order. This topic is the first one. Why am I starting this topic? Because I feel like Trendyol is my 4th school. I enjoy telling people especially to meet new.
Introducing myself because I don’t have any articles on the internet. After my graduation which is BA in Istanbul University in 2019, I started to work at Trendyol. Before my Trendyol adventure started, I worked at the Kuveyt Turk Participation Bank. When I started to work at the bank, I knew, a bank career was not suitable for me. Because I don’t want to live in a routine live-cycle my younger ages and I proved myself 🙂
In those days, I applied for opening job notices a hundred times but no one returned my applications. I was living Murphy’s law 😅 I said my friends if your working company has any job notices please let me know 🙏 A friend of mine said that Trendyol is looking for a new team member but the position needs have technical. I was upset but life goes on.
A few days later, I have seen Trendyol general application link and I sent my CV and cover letter. I was thinking every company has my CV, why not in Trendyol?
After this application, Trendyol called me about 5–6 hours later and said “Can we make an interview today?” That day I met Trendyol officially.
After the interviews, My Trendyol career is started. On the first day of my Trendyol career, I met my buddy. He was working&testing in Postman on the black page with codes 😅 Everyone knows the black screen defines some technical things. I asked him, What is this, I don’t have this kind of skill? He said you will learn no problem 😅
After 3.5 years(One year intern, the others full-time), I learned lots of things and my learnings kept going. On my first day on the job, My orientation kept going to learn “What is API?, What is JSON?, How is working API Services?” 3–4 months later, I knew them along with logic. When I took the day off for the exams, something about our team was changing all the time. To keep it short, our team rotated to Trendyol Tech, and then I had a revelation. Because most of the people writing a code in there which I wasn’t. I asked myself “You have lots of friends who are known to code. Why am I learning to code too?” My buddy has known Python and I decided to learn to code. Somehow, I have learned Python both by asking my friends and watching Udemy/Youtube training.
After this learning romance, I had to find a project to improve my skills. We found the topic with my teammate. That project is working on our internal applications right now but not our codes 😂
When my internship program have been finishing, my leader and I had a good talk about my career path and decide to be a product manager.
My integration career was over at the starting pandemic days of about May 2020. Two people were joined our integration team and I handover them. Trendyol created a new team which is Seller Productivity and my product owner career started officially.
I would like to write something about product management with agile practices. See you in new articles 👋👋
